GRANTS TO ADULTS
It’s Awesome Adult Grants support new adult-initiated and led learning programs, projects and opportunities that benefit Georgetown Central School students and school-aged residents of Georgetown. In compliance with the mission of the Georgetown Island Education Foundation, proposals should address educational opportunities not otherwise available to Georgetown’s students.
There are two levels of It’s Awesome grants available to adults:
- The It’s Awesome Adult Grant provides up to $1,000.00 for a new program or project that involves Georgetown students. Grant deadlines are in November and in March.
- The new PUSH GRANT provides funds to GCS teachers who need to kick-start or supply a new or existing project/unit beyond the budget allocation. Applications are accepted throughout the school year on a rolling basis.
It’s Awesome Adult Grants support new adult-initiated and led learning programs, projects, and opportunities that benefit school-aged residents of Georgetown. The application provides the applicant with an opportunity to make a strong case for the educational and/or learning value of the program or project
It is not necessary for the It’s Awesome Adult Grant applicant to live in Georgetown or to teach at the GCS.
When an application is funded, funds will be sent directly to the educational program and/or supplier whenever possible. In the case of teacher-applicants, funds may be deposited into a program account. It is the responsibility of the applicant to keep an accurate accounting of funds spent. This accounting will be given to the Foundation by the end of the school year.
PUSH (Perk Up - Shoot aHead) Grants are intended to kick-start or supply specific, existing curricular units and projects at Georgetown Central School. In compliance with the mission of the Georgetown Island Educational Foundation, the grant must meet a need not otherwise met by the GCS budget.
Applications are to be made for a specific amount. Applicants may receive two PUSH Grants in a year, with the exception of It’s Awesome Adult Grant recipients, who are limited to one PUSH Grant in that same school year.
*The applicant must teach or be employed by the GCS.
All grant recipients are accountable for demonstrating the successful completion of their project or program and for documenting the student learning experience. This can be done in any format: web-based, in-person, in print, or other. Depending upon the project, the Foundation will tell the grantee when an accountability statement is due. Failure to complete this step will make applicants ineligible for future grant opportunities.
